Microsoft Release dates for 2012

Microsoft recently released the 2012 product release roadmap and wanted to share the information.

Microsoft Windows 8 -

The newest generation of Microsoft's flagship desktop operating system. Newest features include touch centric, Tile based user interface (UI) and support for ARM as well as x86 system on-chip designs.

Beta Expected Late Feb. 2012. Release to manufacturing (RTM) Q3 2012-Q1 2013. 

Microsoft 8 Server -

Microsoft called it " The most cloud-optimized OS" since Windows Azure

Office 15 -

Looking for intersting things with this release which is suggested to be ready for the next version of Exchange, next version of Sharepoint, the next vesion of office apps and the next version of Lync.

Besides the new look and feel, Office 15 unofficially will contain a new application code-named "Moorea."  The new app is reported to have the look and feel of "Canvas for OneNote" app Microsoft tested a while back.

System Center 2012 -

We have been testing this software for a while and are sticking to Hyper V vs. moving the VMware direction

SQL Server 2012 -

March 7th, 2012 is the virtual lanch event (hint, click the link above). Microsoft touted SQL Server 2012 as "Always On", suggesting that it is bringing true (H/A) High Availability to SQL Server
